The new Space®plus Infusomat® Large Volume Pump, Space®plus Perfusor® Syringe Pump and OnlineSuiteplus software suite mark the next evolution in smart infusion therapy.
MISSISSAUGA, ON – August 26, 2026 – B. Braun Canada Ltd. (B. Braun), a leader in smart infusion therapy, today announced that Health Canada has approved the Spaceplus Infusion System, the latest advancement in B. Braun's more than 75 years of infusion pump innovation.
Building on the proven performance of the existing Space® platform, the Spaceplus system introduces enhancements designed to improve clinical workflows, support patient safety and simplify infusion management. Key features include a larger display with full drug-name visibility, Tall Man Lettering and color-coded medications to help clinicians quickly identify therapies. Its modular design supports configurations ranging from a single pump to 16 pumps on one IV pole and power cord, maximizing space at the bedside.
The system continues to support hospital-wide standardization by integrating both large volume and syringe pumps within a single software platform. The new MRI station can shield up to eight pumps against magnetic fields, helping maintain infusion therapy during imaging procedures. Similar user interfaces across both pump types are designed to reduce programming complexity and streamline staff training.
Additional features include IP44 moisture protection, a touch display that can be operated while wearing gloves and advanced cybersecurity protections.
The Spaceplus system is supported by OnlineSuiteplus, B. Braun's centralized digital platform for infusion management. The software integrates with hospital IT systems through a bi-directional HL7-IHE framework and provides a single access point for key digital tools. DoseTracplus delivers infusion reporting and insights to support protocol adherence and drug library compliance, while DeviceManagerplus enables remote deployment of software updates, drug libraries and configuration files without disrupting patient care. In addition, DrugLibraryManagerplus offers enhanced customization to support the unique needs of different care settings while maintaining standardized medication management practices.
"The approval of the Spaceplus Infusion System marks an important milestone for B. Braun and for infusion therapy in Canada," said Ian Duncalf, Managing Director of B. Braun Canada. "Built on decades of infusion expertise, Spaceplus introduces new capabilities that enhance patient safety, simplify clinical workflows and help hospitals and providers adapt to the evolving demands of care delivery."
